AGRICULTURE IS ONE OF THE FEW major production sectors where the factory floor is largely exposed to weather, pests, disease, markets, and biological timing. Farmers and ranchers cannot always slow down, shut down, or redirect production when conditions change. A crop has to be planted before the weather is known.
